Yamaha TSR-700 + Jamo S8 Studio Series = Happiness!

Why do we do the things we do?  2020 was a year of change, and like many of you, we had our share of Netflix, Hulu, Plex, and other streaming content.  I even changed over to Gigabit Ethernet from Xfinity with unlimited data.  Why?  Well, we found that we can chew up a LOT of data with streaming, working from home, YouTube, etc.

Over the past 20 years, I've always enjoyed movies, music and home theater in general, and trust me - this is not about a $100,000 setup.  I'm all about bang for the buck when it comes to technology.  I found some awesome deals and wanted to share my experience in the process.

Near the end of 2020, Adorama.com had a screaming deal on Jamo speakers.  I've heard of Jamo for many years, and know that Klipsch purchased Jamo back in 2005.  I was already running a 5.1 setup with an older Denon AVR-2113ci, JBL S-38II mains, JBL S-Center, JBL N24 rear surrounds, and an Outlaw Audio LFM-1 subwoofer.  It did the job, created the home theater experience which is what I was after.

Why did I want a change? That's pretty simple!  Technology has improved!  It’s a modest setup, new setup - but does the job quite well!  I opted for the walnut color, but they do offer black, and white depending on your style.

When I found the Adorama deal, I was shocked at the price considering it was almost $800 off the list price.  Then it just grew from there (of course!).   Here's the breakdown of what I found and setup.

The JAMO Studio 8 Series 5.0 setup was $379!

Since I saved so much on that setup, I acquired a pair Jamo S 8ATM front height ATMOS to pair up with the S809 towers.  REALLY hard to find!  I nabbed a pair for $179

The Yamaha TSR-700 went on sale at Costco for only $329!

Still using our Sharp 1080p 70” - next upgrade will be 4/8K around 80-85”

running the rears and sub on wireless dynasty pro audio wsa-5rp - which has worked amazingly well!!

Overall, I've been really happy with the resulting sound and clarity.  Hoping to one-day get a new 4k/8k TV to utilize the new capabilities in firmware on the Yamaha. Until then, I'll smile and enjoy the movies and tunes!  C ya!
